Not long ago, I had the chance to sit down with the team at MarketVisory Group (listen to the full interview here) to share Clarity Counseling Seattle’s story. What began as a solo venture over 14 years ago has since grown into a collaborative group practice that now includes nearly a dozen dedicated therapists. Our conversation focused on that evolution—how and why it happened, and what it’s allowed us to offer clients seeking therapy in Seattle and throughout Washington.
Why Expand to a Group Practice?
For the first nine years, Clarity Counseling Seattle was a one-person operation—just me, working with couples and individuals. Eventually, though, I reached a point where I wanted to offer something more: more availability, more specialized support, and more collective wisdom for the people who turn to us for relationship therapy, individual counseling, and sex therapy.
Moving from a solo to a group model allowed us to:
- Expand our range of specialties to better serve diverse client needs
- Offer increased appointment availability and greater scheduling flexibility
- Collaborate behind the scenes as a team to improve the quality of care
- Create a space where Seattle therapists with a shared passion for relationship and sexuality work could grow together
Each therapist who has joined our team has added depth to what Clarity can offer. We now provide both in-person sessions and telehealth therapy, and we work with a wide range of clients, including couples, individuals, and polycules. The variety of perspectives and skillsets our team brings has enriched our work far beyond what I could have done alone.
What You Can Expect From Working With Us
Whether you're exploring therapy for the first time or returning after a break, we aim to make the process as welcoming and collaborative as possible. When you begin therapy at Clarity Counseling Seattle, you'll find:
- A thoughtful intake process to get a clear sense of your goals and challenges
- A therapist who takes time to tailor the work to your unique story and relationship dynamics
- Ongoing collaboration and support as your needs evolve over time
Our work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, but just as importantly, it’s grounded in human connection. We believe that people grow best when they feel safe, seen, and supported.
Looking Back, and Looking Ahead
Reflecting on Clarity’s growth has reminded me that meaningful expansion isn’t just about getting bigger. It’s about deepening the quality of what we offer. Every therapist who has joined our group has brought something valuable, and the result is a team that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
