Justin Pere, founder of Clarity Counseling Seattle, was interviewed by John Colucci of KOMO News in a live Q&A format, responding to viewer-submitted questions about navigating emotional health during the pandemic. In this wide-ranging conversation, Justin shared therapeutic guidance on coping with anxiety, depression, uncertainty, and the deep sense of grief many people experienced during that time. Our Collective State of Grief
In the interview, Justin offered a compassionate perspective on the grief many of us felt—grief not only about illness or loss, but also about the disruption of normal life and relationships. He encouraged viewers to:
- Honor what you're feeling, even if it doesn’t feel rational;
- Unplug from reactive habits to find your emotional footing;
- Engage with the present as an opportunity for intentional growth;
Some questions to reflect on during this time of disruption include:
- How am I being stretched, and how can I grow through this?
- What kind of partner, parent, or community member do I want to become?
- What new rituals of connection could help us navigate this season together?
- Where in my internal life or relationships have I neglected attention—and how can I tend to those places now?
